The Chamber of Commerce, Imlay City DDA,  and Hispanic Service Center have been planning a Cinco de Mayo celebration.  On Saturday, May 5, 2012 the streets of Imlay City were alive with Hispanic music, art, crafts, food and entertainment as we celebrated Cinco de Mayo.  The 5th of May celebrates the victory of the Mexican militia over the French army at The Battle of Puebla in 1862. 

The Imlay City Area Chamber of Commerce, the Imlay City DDA and Hispanic Service Center would like to thank Frontier Communications for their Platinum Sponsorship of the 2012 Cinco de Mayo celebration.  Frontier is located at 311 S. Salsa Competion

 

Enter the Salsa contest during the Cinco de Mayo Celebration....

Any business, restaurant/caterer, service group or individual may enter.

All preparations of the salsa must be done on-site from 10am to Noon.  No prepared salsas may be brought from home, restaurant, etc.

Electricity will not be provided.

We will have a hand washing station but no source of water will be provided for the preparation of the salsa.

Contestant is responsible for bringing all ingredients and utensils and one table no larger than 8 feet in length.  We will supply tablecloths, tasting cups and tortilla chips.

Salsa will be judged from Noon to 1pm.  

One contestant will be awarded a $50 “Chamber Buck” prize valid at participating Imlay City Area Chamber of Commerce members.  One winner will be determined by the number of votes received from those attending the Cinco de Mayo celebration.  Make sure you make a large batch of salsa for the festival attendees to try so they can cast a vote for you.

There is no charge to participate in the Salsa competition but pre-registration is necessary and must be received by May 1st.  Late entries will not be allowed.  Please complete the following form and return it to:

We are looking for craft and art vendors for the Cinco de Mayo celebration.  Please complete the form below and return it to the Imlay City Area Chamber of Commerce at 150 North Main Street, Imlay City, 48444.  You may fax the completed form to 810-724-8821.

Vendor fees are just $25 and the fee will be returned to you at the end of the Festival.

DDA de Imlay City, la Camara de Comercio y el Centro Hispano estan muy contentos de hacer una “fiesta” en Imlay City y Capac del 5 al 7 de Mayo, las calles de Imlay Ciy y Capac estarán vivas con la musica Hispana, arte, manualidades, comida y entretenimiento.   

 Hay muchas formas de participar 
* Conviértete en un vendedor: arte hispano, arte y comida
* Participar en los desfiles: Artistas, clubes bilingüe, bailarinas, bandas escolares, carros  alegóricos.
* Voluntariado: El tiempo será muy apreciado en el área de la actividad de los niños, stand de información, etc
* Patrocinios: El patrocinador de una actividad, artista, arte para niños, y más. Diversas oportunidades de patrocinio y hay niveles disponibles.
* Dona bolsas de caramelos para llenar las piñatas.

Cinco de Mayo Fundraiser

We had a great time at last Friday's Cinco de Mayo fundraising dinner!  Thank you to our wonderful volunteers from the Hispanic Service Center and the DDA who are co-hosts with the Chamber for the 2012 two-day celebration.

We are planning a great Fiesta for May 4 and 5.  If you are interested in planning, volunteering, becoming a food or craft vendor, entertaining or sponsoring the 2012 event, please contact the Chamber office at 810-724-1361.
